Vocal Lift runs the signal through a complete chain in a fixed, sensible order: Input Gain, a high-pass filter for rumble removal, a clean noise gate, tone shaping, a character stage, an automatic de-esser, and Output Gain. Every stage is built from simple, transparent filtering and envelope-following — no FFT processing, so there’s no added latency anywhere in the chain.
The Noise knob drives a straightforward expander/gate rather than spectral noise reduction — a deliberate choice for a clean, artifact-free result instead of the smearing or pumping that can come with more aggressive processing. Tone and Presence shape a 3-band EQ — a low shelf for body, a mid peak for clarity, and a high shelf for air — and because boosting Presence can also bring up sibilance, the de-esser automatically compensates as you push it, so you don’t have to manage two knobs against each other.
A 4-way Character switch — Neutral, Warm, Modern, and Vintage — reshapes the vocal’s overall EQ personality, with a touch of gentle saturation folded into the warmer settings. Dual RMS + Peak metering on input and output, plus a real-time gain reduction display for the noise gate, keep the whole chain visible at a glance.
